AbstractTriangular Irregular Networks can efficiently define terrain models where drainage paths can be calculated. This work describes a method for calculating drainage paths from a TIN that was obtained from contour lines. Contour lines crossed by triangles edges and flat areas are removed. Drainage paths are connected by processing the triangles with an associated priority. Results are consistent with an available drainage network.
